Volunteer Opportunities
Garden Volunteer:
As a volunteer with our school or senior garden program, you will play a hands-on role in maintaining and enhancing the beauty of our schools and senior garden spaces. Responsibilities may include cleaning up garden paths, assisting with small-scale building projects like raised beds, planting, weeding, and general gardening support for our kids or seniors.
Event Volunteer:
Play a key role in ensuring the success of our events by providing crucial support throughout the planning process and on the event day. Responsibilities may include pre-event planning and logistics, day-of setup and breakdown support, and generally supporting the flow of the event.
Outreach Volunteer:
Help extend our reach and strengthen our connection with our San Diego and Baja communities. Responsibilities may include tabling at events, schools, and local organizations and spreading the word through distributing flyers, making phone calls, or engaging with our social media platforms to reach new audiences.
Join a Committee:
Our committees are for volunteers who would like to step up and play a bigger role in our organizational operations, business development, and community outreach! We have 5 primary committees at Berry Good Food:
- Educational Engagement Committee: Organizes our in-community programs such as school and senior gardens, panels, video series, and educational classes
- Events Committee: Organizes and oversees special events throughout the year
- Volunteer Committee: Helps run our volunteer program
- Communications Committee: Tells the story of the BGF mission, vision, and activities through various media and engages in advocacy and networking
- Development Committee: Establishes fundraising strategy and engages in networking and advocacy with donors
- Cali/Baja Committee: Runs cross-border programs and events, and works with our Baja-based partners
